Fyi, with the peace/victory sign, it only becomes an insult when the palm is facing the person doing the sign. Sort of like a literal reversal of what it’s meant to represent, I’d guess.
Huh, odd. It’s funny how things that are “acceptable” in one culture, is “unacceptable” in another.
Heck, the “peace/victory” sign is an insult in some countries.
In parts of Europe, it actually is unambiguously a racial slur on par with the N-word.
In America, however, the negative connotations have largely disappeared through sheer pervasiveness. Few seem to realize that they are called anything else, to the point that some Romani organizations actually have “Gypsy” in their names.
I suddenly had the urge to bang my head on the wall until I achieved unconsciousness…
