Yeah, I guess they overdid her “Aussie” accent/slang at times. Though, you’d think sense she only speaks in text, that wouldn’t bug people so much. (In fact, Marine to this day has never had a voice, granted she hasn’t appeared in the games sense her debut game SRA.)
I’ll cut them some slack because the CCG industry was subliminally implanting anti-boomerang propaganda in their brains via brainwarping holofoil reflective patterns.
And because her character design doesn’t show her personality.
I think she’ll be around for a bit.
Yeah, I actually kind of liked Marine too, though I do understand why some fans (as well as the other characters) found her annoying.
Yeah, she was shown briefly on that “character design” board (that showed many background characters, and robots) shortly before her reveal/announcement, so actually alot of people made that mistake. (Even I did, as they both look alot alike. They are both orange & brown, and have pigtails.)
Though, I kinda liked Marine, and felt she was kinda funny in “Sonic Rush Adventure,” and the Archie comic series. The fact she annoyed other characters just seemed like part of her humor to me.

Funny thing is, when I first saw her, I thought she was a redesigned Marine the Raccoon, and was hoping that the show and game would make her less annoying.

Hilariously, when she was first revealed, alot of Sonic fans (and haters) had a cow going, “Oh noz! not anotherz new Sanik char’! Kill it! My crappy OC is better! new charz ruinz Sanik! teh series shuldz only be Sanik & Robotnik, and nothing else!”
Yet, now she now seems more popular then the other characters in the show. (Helps she’s one of the funniest in the show. Either her, or Eggman.)

Yeah, I heard about those, they looked pretty coolies. Kinda cool they reinstated the famed “Hidden Palace Zone,” and even hid in a clever place. In that one annoying spot in the “Mystic Cave Zone,” where you fall down a hole, and there’s nothing, but spikes at the bottom, and no way to jump out after losing your rings.
There’s also that one guy who made the Sonic CD PSN/Xbox Live port and the recent iOS ports of Sonic 1 & 2… Heck, the Sonic 2 iOS port made an entirely new version of the Hidden Palace Zone from scratch.
Perhaps, but on the other hand, I think M2 does a good job on the “3D Sega Classics” line of games for the 3DS Eshop. (Keep in mind they had to do alot of work remaking them with 3D-effects, even had to make their own Sega Genesis/Megadrive emulation software from scratch.)
I have Sonic 1, Shinobi 3, and Streets of Rage for my 3DS, and they all play very good, and like the originals. They also have alot of cool customizable features including allowing you to play the “Japanese,” or “International” versions of the games. They recently released “3D After Burner 2,” which is getting good reviews.
(Also in Japan, they’re releasing a compilation game of some of the “3D Sega Classics.” No word if it’ll come here yet.)
Also, apparently in Europe they released a download patch for “Sonic Boom” that apparently fixes alot of it’s glitches, and makes it more playable supposedly. So that’s something, at least.
Also, surprisingly, the “Sonic Boom” TV show is quite amusing.
Sonic Boom was them outsourcing to another company whose only selling point was “made up of former Naughty Dog employees”… And, well, look how that turned out. If it was ACTUALLY Naughty Dog, then maybe it wouldn’t have turned out nearly as bad as Sonic ’06 (I still think Sonic ’06 is worse).
Yeah, I heard about that, but other game companies have done that to, so I don’t think they’re “going out of business” as some gamers & Sega/Sonic-haters are fear-mongering. Seeing how they’re rereleasing Sega games like “3D After Burner 2” on 3DS, I think they’ll still have some focus on consoles, and Sonic Team still exists. (Plus Sonic games despite being “hit or miss,” still sell well on consoles. Ironically, they sell best on the Nintendo ones.)
Though, they may have to out-source development for some games to other companies now.
As for Richard Kuta, (AKA “AKnotholeResident) let’s just say he was friends with Nicochi.
Kuta gained minor-notoriety when he actually tried to gain support to make an officially-licensed Sonic feature film. (With NO prior professional film-experience.) He even had pictures of him going to Sega of America HQ, and such. (As you could probably guess Sega eventually asked him to stop pestering them about it.)
He also apparently cheated some of the artists he “hired” to help with the project, as he never payed them like he said he would. (Even ripped off one fanartist’s Robotnik design.) So even after trying to turn it into an unofficial “fan-film,” (after Sega rejected him) it barely got off the drawing board as by then Sonic fans lost all respect for him.
This preview is all that’s left of his fan-film. (Which is basically just a 1-minute version of “Sonic SatA.M.” with Metal Sonic, and the Egg Mobile added. Don’t know what to say about it.)
Both Kuta & Nicochi have entire Encyclopedia Dramatica pages dedicated to them, so there’s more about them then this. (Though, be warned E.D. has rather perv’y advertisements.)
Also, apparently after Kuta disowned the Sonic fanbase, he moved on to the brony fanbase… >>460016 Though, he’s been more quiet lately.
Dare I ask who this Richard Kuta is? I’m familiar with Nicochi…
Also, it’s too bad that the Sonic Boom game turned out the way it did, to the point where Sega actually released a patch for it fixing some glitches. I mean, we finally get to play as characters other than Sonic again, and this is what we get.
It’s gotten so bad that apparently SEGA went through a lot of layoffs and reorganization recently, and they’re apparently going to focus more on PC and Mobile gaming now… Though it’s worth noting that in the press release that said this, they did not in any way imply that they were going to stop making console games entirely, yet pretty much everyone is acting like this is what’s happening.
Indeed, and it wasn’t just him either doing that.
A funny coincidence is, around the time when all the “Twilicorn” drama started, a similar drama was stirring up in the Sonic fanbase over a Sonic character called “Princess Sally Acorn” (a character exclusive to the ongoing Sonic comics, and old cult-classic SatA.M. TV series) getting a redesign to.
Let’s just say, some fans weren’t happy she now wears clothes. (Including some female fans… One even went so far as to say it was “sexist” that female animal Sonic characters have to wear clothes, while the male ones don’t. Another one even said “she’s not Sally anymore.” Sound familiar?)
Which reminds me about Kwark’s anti-Twilicorn campaign, but not as apeshit crazy as Richard “Akhr” Kuta and Nicochi.

Indeed, he managed to out-crazy Richard Kuta, and Nicochi’s anti-green-eyes crusade. (Said drama got started after Sonic had them for many years to…)
Not to mention the “blue arms” Sonic design is only going to be in the “Sonic Boom” TV show, and it’s tie-in products. Every other version of Sonic (including future games unrelated to “Boom”) are still going to use the post-SA version of Sonic.
