I agree that they didn’t succeed, but they tried in Rainbow Rocks, which is why she was better in the first Equestria Girls.
I think they made her sympathetic.
Which does about as well.
The writers never made her cure or adorable.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Sunset used to be cool, but they ruined her when they made her nice. I was so sad to see what they did to her, but it was fixed soon afterwards with the introduction of the Dazzlings. I still want bad Sunset back, though. :(
Personal taste are sacred, but I think that Adagio was pretty “weak” like antagonist, personality and design. The idea of three Demoniac Sea Ponies is cool, but with the songs was the only thing that I appreciated in those antagonists. Sonata is funny and the fan give her a good personality, but I think that the best human is…
