She might be trying that classic trick to discover who you will marry, i.e. the one where you peel an apple in one long unbroken strip, throw the peel backwards over your right shoulder with the left hand, and then look to assess whose initials it spells. Of course, unless it’s a Golden Billet peeled with a two inch paring knife no wider than half an inch, the loved one’s name will invariably be SCSSSC.

Yes, the skin contains a good amount of proteins.
It’s usually peeled because it may be dirty or contain traces of pesticides, but a good wash can solve the issue.
