Oddly, Sonic fans seem to be getting quite divided over the “American-versions,” and “Japanese-version” of Sonic. Like I see fans of the old American SatA.M. cartoon bashing the Sega art style, and such. (And vice-versa.)

Well, I think that looks better then making Sally look like a 6-foot tall model, like Stephen Butler does sometimes. (See my previous post.) Even if the long hair was kinda cute.

I kinda prefer Sonic characters looking more cartoonier, and more like well… Sonic characters. And despite being more cartoony/Sega-ish nowadays, the art is still quite good.

God that new style is awful… Also the original satam Sonic was an american style (as well as the Archie comics). That new style is defiantly Japanese style or Sonic Team. But it still looks like crap. Like a female version of Tails.

Even the vest didn’t cover much. That paired with how risque’ some Archie Sonic artists like how Stephen Butler used to draw her.

She wears clothes nowadays in the comic though, and is drawn more like a Sonic character now.
Unsurprisingly, many Sonic fans got angry about that. Some even complaining it was “sexist” that male Sonic animal characters could be naked, but not female ones anymore. (Yet, not many complained about Sally’s “long hair phase” from around 10 years ago.)

Coincidentally, the “new Sally look” drama happened around the same time as the “Twilicorn” drama.

Y’know, surprisingly there were some female animal cartoon characters who wore li’l to no clothes. Like say Mona Lisa, (TMNT) Princess Sally Acorn, (Sonic) and Cleo. (Heathcliff) Surprised they got away with that, especially sense those 3 examples were “shapely” to.
