The initial anthro images were just commentary. Since then they’re become a self contained in-joke more than anything else. There’s a segment of the fluffy community that flips their shit whenever someone posts anthro, in spite of fluffy ponies being anthropomorphized. The same crowd also loses it whenever anyone references MLP, which is absurd given that fluffy ponies spawned from the MLP threads on /co/ and were ported to /mlp/ with the rest of the pony content.

I did not know anthro fluffies was a thing. I’m not surprised or anything. It’s just…strange by comparison.
