Some of that stuff wasn’t necessarily just “christianity’s fault,” things like shock theropy were just pseudo science, and products of their ignorant times. Witch-burning was just ridiculous superstitions. Not to mention those religious-nuts who tend to misinterpret the Bible, and such. It doesn’t mean christianity itself is evil, and “needs to be repressed/outlawed more,” and good christian/religious people have also done good, and done charity work. Many churches even let homeless people stay in them, so there are many good religious people out there. You make it sound like no good ever came from religion, which honestly isn’t true. As I said there are good AND bad people of every belief/religion, or lack of beliefs for that matter. That’s the only point I’m making.
I’ve caught crap from both religious-nuts, and atheists alike for being a christian. A guy on this site even tried to convert me to atheism, just because all I said was I was a christian, so atheists tend to do the same things religious people do, if you ask me.
Though, I actually DO agree with you that fanaticism of any kinda can be bad, but I also believe that applies to secularism/atheism too, and they shouldn’t outlaw religions, (except maybe certain dangerous cults) or kill/jail people for being religious too like say during Stalin’s administration. As I said atheists have as much blood on their hands as the religious do, and there’d still be war, and violence regardless what a person’s belief is. People kill each other over petty things like food, poverty, land, jealousy, and many things unrelated to religion sense the beginning of time.
Also, christian & secular mindsets have changed over the years, so they weren’t necessarily all “forced” into anything, people change over time the more they learn. Forcing people to do something doesn’t always work, and sometimes has to be done in other subtle ways like with knowledge.
I don’t believe all Islamic people are bad, (I’ve seen good ones, demonize the bad/militant ones, and such) but I do agree that the fanatical ones need to modernize for the reasons you stated… They should also allow religious freedom too, as the crazy militant ones believe it’s ok to hate/kill Christians, Jews, and even atheists for not having the same mindset.

I will tell you what I tell everyone for the past 400 years we have been kicking Christianity in the ass whenever they fuck up or act up. This is why shock therapy is considered horrifying, gay marriage is legal and women can no longer be burned for being witches. It is why we no longer execute heriticts/ non belivers. Sadly it is now Muslims time to get the religions kicking they need. Starting with ending the sick shit their religion demands they do. Honour killings, stoning rape victims, beheading gays and “infidels. etc. It is not Islamophobia it is not racism it is simply there time to reform their religion like Christianity was forced to. To take away the power the religion has and finally separate religion from the state. With this in mind there are only two sides the side that agrees that honour killings and other sick shit have to end and those that do not wish to see it end. That is it.

I don’t know, I haven’t really heard of large groups of christians going around killing people recently, (at least in North America) but honestly there’s crazies of every belief, (I don’t deny that) and not just religious ones, mind you. (Atheists kill people too, look at Stalin & his bunch.)
