I never saw it that way. Well, I’m going to start shipping them then!
Well, more than that. Their color schemes go together perfectly, blue boy with pink girl with inverted lighter/darker coats and manes, so it’s adorbz seeing them. Plus, there’s Pokey’s cutie mark, leading to the obvious “popping her balloons” jokes. Plus, it’s always fun imagining him as the straight guy and Pinkie as the Manic Pixie Dream Girl. So, not completely starved for ideas, after all.

I think she was Maud Pie before there even was a Maud Pie.
Funnily enough, ships with him and AJ were like the prototype Trenderhoof version. Caramel was typically unlucky, unskilled, or socially awkward, but fell for AJ hard. With a lot of elbow grease and determination, he eventually winds her over.
But yeah, a lot of it was leftover straight pairings. I still liked it though.
