It seems like I _have_to defend Rock’s honor, then. :D
 
Rock hadn’t been a nobody with a useless pencil pushing job. He had a high position at his company that he earned, and he had expertise in many subjects.  
He was a fish out of his element on the Lagoon first because, y’know, businessmen rarely need to engage in firefights in everyday life, But from the beginning, he talked back to Dutch and Revi, engaged in drinking contests, came up with a plan for the Lagoon to survive and flipped the bird to his superiors after they betrayed him.  
His expertise from his business years would occassionally show later - such as when he immediately knew who the Lovelace family were and could cross-examine their son with technical details about their business operations.
 
So, no, from day one, I never got the impression that the Lagoon members let him tag along out of pity or because the plot demanded. They seemed to genuinely liked him ’cause he deomnstrated that he was one promising mean sunuvabitch.

Uhhhh, no. I been knowing pia sama for a long time. She still a good artist, however she a mainstream on sparity, but call me a hypocrite, I still like her work because there are some picture she made are non-sparity. Also, I’ve been in derpibooru since ponibooru went dark. So ya I’m like in a between of love & hate on pia’s work. I love her work, she’s a talented artist, but a total mainstream shipper. It’s like saying that “I hate you! But I love you! But I hate your things I Don’t like, but I still love your work!

I know, I was just saying I can still appreciate their art, and this fan comic series regardless if there’s ‘shipping undertones, unlike said background pony/anon’. I suppose some artists should try drawing other things, as well though, or even try platonic relationships sometimes. I’ve seen some who literally draw nothing but ponies kissing, and such.
 
Of course, Pia might do the “unrequited” love bit between Spike & Rarity for all we know, and might surprise us, especially sense I think somebody else was writing this fan-comic. (I can’t remember.) But either way, I don’t mind.

It isn’t all she draws, but it certainly is the overwhelming majority.
 
The prior commenter sounded like he was surprised that a comic made by Pia, staring Spike, and called Rogue Diamonds, would possibly have Sparity shipping in it.

I’m not really into that pairing, (or into ’shipping in general) but even I can still admit Pia-Sama draws good artwork, even their “Sparity” pics are quite good.
