Shinji Ikari is a whiny and sometimes unsympathetic antihero, but he’s hell on wheels in a fight. Also, Evangelions (and the tentacled kaiju they fight) have magical bullshit “AT field” force fields that make them immune to very nearly anything up to a tactical nuke, or a fist in the face from another giant robot or tentacled hellbeast that has an “AT field” of its own.

tl;dr this is going to be a very short, very messy fight.
