Given how that game hasn’t had any staying power in even online culture _{(you’d think a game that features an American offshoot portrayed as racist and jingoistic would’ve been super-relevant between 2016 and 2020, but I digress)} has only reinforced my position on it.

B. Season 2

To me my favorite season changes day by day. I love them all.

You can’t be serious when you say you believe a 26-episode season takes 6,5 years to make. :| By that logic, it would mean they’d have every season up to 8 ready at this point, and that they started working on the first season in 2004, when the previous fucking generation was still fresh and new. And you were only talking about the animation, excluding all the writing, scripting, storyboarding, voice recording etc. which all combined takes at least as much time as the animating-process itself…

But it is, though. The show’s merchandise driven - it’s not like House, MD or Blackadder or Sesame Street, Cowboy Bebop, Pinky and the Brain. The show itself is owned by a toy company that releases toys in LINE with each new season.
 
Like I said, however, that doesn’t detract to how good the episodes are or how bad it is. A half-an-hour toy commercial that’s good is still worth a watch if the quality’s up there.

Even if you’re argument sounds more fair, I refuse to acknowledge any comment that thinks of the show or any episode of the show as if it was a marketing ploy.
 
Twilight’s Kingdom & other episodes in Season 4 were built around a season long plot point. A single episode of an animated series (especially one as well animated as Friendship Is Magic) takes several months to make. Say that an episode of Freindship Is Magic takes around 5 or 6 months to make. Even if it’s just 3, multiply that by 26 episodes & you have 78 months worth of animation, divided by 12 is 6.5 years. That means that plans for the season long story were possibly written out before those 6 & a half years of animation could even start.
 
So yeah, the writers of the show were way ahead of Hasbro before they could turn it into a marketing ploy.

To be fair, it IS a merchandise-driven franchise, so it IS a marketing ploy, essentially. That, however, does not detract from the quality - and it shouldn’t. Episodes should be judged on their own merit - I couldn’t care less if it was a 30 minute commercial.

Pretty tough to choose. They all had their highs and lows.
 
Season 1, while not having much in the Incredibly Bad department, didn’t seem to have very much in the Extremely Amazing department either. That said, it was still good enough to be a lot of fun and spark the pony craze. The only bad thing I can really remember is that some atheists got pissed off with Feeling Pinkie Keen.
 
Season 2 brought us Discord’s debut and a speaking role from Derpy. It also had Mysterious Mare Do Well (though to be fair, it was only the ending that I really didn’t like) and the whole Derpy drama fiasco.
 
Season 3 had Too Many Pinkie Pies and Sleepless in Ponyville, but it also gave us a LOT of alicorn drama (and it was considerably shorter than the other seasons).
 
Season 4 had some of my favorite Pinkie Pie episodes, Derpy’s glorious return, a lot of fun musical numbers and the badass battle between Twilight and Tirek. It also had Applejack being a little too overprotective and Spitfire a little too jerkish.
 
 
In the end, I enjoyed all four seasons. They all had their flaws, some more noticeable than others, but were still very much enjoyable. Can’t wait to see what Season 5 brings.

B was okay, but the pay off was… no.
 
Never saw all of A, so at least I’m not a Faust worshipper (though now I’m starting to see what they’re crying about)
