Yes. He never was worthless. Spike had more insight and common sense than the mane 6 a lot of the times. He messed up and won like everyone else. Spike wasn’t battle pron but always had an unexpected way of coming out on top in situations–the buffalo worship, mounting Twilight to save Rarity, being right all along in Lesson Zero. The writing didn’t need to help up lifted him because his merits stood on their own.
What happened in season four was one of the worst break in show writings I have ever seen. A long established character was brought down for a bad joke or because certain “writers” were too uncreative to know how to use him and fell back on their pet characters each and everytime.
The whole situation was just sickening.
Oh, wait, he already risked his own life to save the Crystal Empire and proved he wasn’t just a butt monkey two seasons ago, and was the only one attentive enough to get help when Twilight was going nuts over her deadline. He’s always been useful, and I can’t feel bad that he’s still useful now.
…
Are you trying to make Spike fans look bad?
It was his fault that the cast got sucked into the comic.
He was the dumbass who nearly killed an entire race of bug ponies.
His crush on Rarity was dissolved, not resolved.
He caused the whole mess with the spell, and let Ponyville suffer for his “friend.”
Twilight was about to save they day… he simple got there first.
In the first five minutes of the second-to-last episode all of his positive development were blown away. And then he got hit, because child abuse is always funny.
Slapstick? Everyone gets it? Okay, fine… but Spike has gotten way more than any other character, and he’s never allowed to really be a good guy, it’s always tempered by him being awful in some other way.
Yeah, and when somebody points it out, the Spike haters jump all over them.
Nah, people are just jelly that he’s the only male character that can ride around on the mane six and be friends with them.
It wasn’t enough if you ask me.
Spike is trash. Speaking of which.
It kind of sicks me how so many fans go on about holding the purity and innocence of that show’s universe but are ok with character abuse at the level that it was this season. Disgusting.
Why does OP hate Spike so to think he doesn’t deserve that?
@amess
I really, really hope they do a gag along those lines in season 5…
@Background Pony #0B86
If they hate Spike, why’d they make him the hero of two episodes just this season alone, as well as give him some great bonding moments with Rarity in a third episode, and a throne next to Twilight’s in the pony version of the Knights of the Round Table?
Prepare yourself Equestria here I come.
Good enough of an answer for me.
’cause the writers hate Spike,and they made him say it.
How? How is it not his fault for saying something so stupid?
I don’t know what you mean by that. Are saying that my comment was meant to anger people and get a reaction from them?
it wasn’t his fault
And he deserved it for speaking without thinking. He just straight up insulted twilight right after she said she felt that her role as a princess wasn’t important.
I’m kidding, by the way.
