We try to promise ourselves that no soldier gets left behind. The truth, however, is much more cruel.

I definitely don’t have what it takes to be a battlefield medic. After the umpteenth casualty came in and I couldn’t do anything to help them, I’d probably just shoot myself.

This is truely heart wrenchingly sad because just that feeling of have your fellow soldier die next to you and you try your hardest to get them back up but they die right in your hands and you just think to yourself “I won’t let anyone have the same fate as you.” Then becoming a field medic yourself and helping others out. It’s just brutal to think about. Also amazing drawing my friend.

Why so dark? Maybe Redheart didn’t know that she already saved this solder but her destiny did know that. Like if she treated his wounds, stopped bleeding and didnt know that it just gave him enough time to stay alive before reinforcements would hospitalize him.

“I just kept pumping on his chest, desperately pleading for the smallest sign of life. Only once he’d grown cold and stained the mud beneath him a deep scarlet did I finally stop. I can’t remember how long I screamed after that, somewhere up at the sky where all the bullets still sped. All I remember is that he was just the first… the first of far too many.”

At first glance, I thought of necrophelia. But this is a beutiful picture.

So she got her cutie mark by watching her loved one dying helplessly on the battlefield.
