Why do characters with names that have no indication of gender need new names when gender-swapped?

Awesome redo of the traditional R63 mainstyles, but I don’t think the names need changing. The established fanon ones are good enough IMO.

Spectrum - Works, but there’s already two other ponies, so I’d avoid it.  
Papillon - The best, and better than Butterscotch  
Trilliant - Meh, it doesn’t roll off the tongue for me.  
AJ - Again, unisex, so it works. It’s also been there from On a Cross and Arrow that popularized the current names.  
Wingding - This would fit someone crazy more; PP’s not crazy but hyper.  
Turnover - I’d expect this for an Apple family member, and most of PP’s personality isn’t centered around baking.  
Doxian - I’m not sure how to put it. I’m not against it, but I’m not for it, either.

‘Papillon’ is better than ‘Butterscotch’, but most of the ones they normally give - Elusive, Bubble Berry, Rainbow Blitz, Applejack, and Dusk Shine - are pretty good and most seem content with them.
 
Also, there’s already a pony named ‘Spectrum’ somewhere. Heck, might even be two: there’s a BGP with a rainbow cutie mark and it’s sometimes given to RD’s father.

FL)Papillon (sorta effeminate and is french for butterfly)  
Rare) Trilliant (name of a diamond cut, T sound adds male flavor, lliant for class)  
AJ) Applejack is unisex sounding so I think it still works  
PP) Wingding or Turnover (WD for party, Turnover for the baking aspect)  
Twi)I kinda a fan of Doxian, or Dox for short (old english like twi’s idols, plus it has a shorter version like Twilight to Twi/Twily)
