The five dragons all stared at the lone red mountain in an open clearing in the ridge, which was more than certainly Mt. Vouderon. It looked smaller than what Spike had originally anticipated, but that may have been just from being so far away, perspective tended to do that. To the side was another cliff with a waterfall leading into a small lake, which flowed just in front of the mountain. It was hard to tell, but there also seemed to be some vegetation on the other side of the mountain, a rare sight, in the barren, rocky ridge. Several paths led to the mountain, one from each compass direction. It had to have been at least twenty stories tall, by Spikes estimation, though taking into account the size of grown dragons, it was probably more like six stories for them.

The entrance had some interesting stone archways leading up to a large door. As Spikes eyes traveled up, the rest of the mountain was still left in its natural form, several cave openings leading into the interior dotting on the walls.

What was most impressive - to Spike at least - was at the peak, a large roof held by some pillars seemed to be carved from the mountain itself. He wondered if thats where the council would meet, it certainly seemed important and grand enough to hold important dragon business matters.
Yet, it seemed strangely quiet. For what Spike had imagined, he thought Mt. Vouderon would be more busy like Canterlots castle, with dragons coming in and out, flying into open caves. It was serene and tranquil, but Spike couldnt help but have a twinge of worry that it might be deserted.

“Come on guys!” Mangle exclaimed, “Were almost there.” The excited young dragon flew leapt back into the air and glided down the path. The rest of the dragons followed on foot, taking in the sights as the mountain grew taller as they got closer.

“Dont you guys think its rather quiet here?” Spike asked as they crossed the stone bridge over the river leading towards the entrance. “Youd think thered be more dragons, considering that its the ridges meeting mountain.”

“Well, maybe~~”, but then Sharp was cut off before being able to voice his thoughts by a thunderous roar.

“HALT! WHO APPROACHES?!

Just as the group of dragons reached the entry archway, a larger adult dragon swooped in front of them, landing with a thud. The group fell back from the ambush. The larger dragon was nearly two or three times as tall as the young dragons. He gave off an aura of ferociousness as he extended his orange wings. His piercing red eyes lasered in on the group of young dragons.

“Only designated representatives and guests are allowed within the caverns of Mt. Vouderon. Who are you? What business do you have here? the red maned dragon sternly asked the group.

Spike got up and stepped towards the imposing sentry dragon, Uuuuuummm, Im Spike, Spike answered nervously.

“and who are they?” the stripped dragon continued.

Spike looked at the others who were also rather stunned at the presence this guard has, Theyre my friends, Sharp, Magma, Snort, and Mangle, Spike listed them off as he pointed to them.

The larger dragon was starting to look annoyed, ..and you have come here because he tried to get the rest of the answers to his original questions.

“Oh! We have information for the dragon council about the disappearance of the dragonsin the ridge! Spike finally blurted out, You gotta let us tell them about it, theres dragons lives at stake.

The larger dragon sighed, Look kid, I dont know what information you have that we dont already know, so you can just head back and~~ when he was suddenly interupted.

“HALT! WHO GOES THE- AAARRRGH I CANT STOP!” a yell, not nearly as boisterous as the orange dragon came increasing in volume. A flash of blue knocked square into the orange dragon, crashing them into the clearing on the side of the path.

“Rargh, get off me Litos,” said the orange dragon, shoving the dazed and confused blue dragon off of him.

“Eh heh heh, whoops! Sorry about that Finos,” the blue dragon sheepishly apologized. “Guess I still need to work on that landing.”

“Work on that brain of yours,” Finos snapped at him, smacking him upside the head. Litos just kept giggling, as if he was used to this kind of situation. “Seriously, theres no need to shout HALT when Im already down here, Ive already said it.”

“Well its kind of hard to see ya, you blend in too well,” Litos joked.
“Then open your eyes for once,” Finos snapped back, clearly more annoyed with Litos than the other dragons. “How do you expect to be a true sentry if you dont have spatial awareness, I bet you were napping on the post before you even happened to glance down here. What if there were a real danger? you are the most- Finos continued to rant and berate the blue dragon, and as he did so, Spike saw this as an opportunity. While he was distracted, he motioned to the group to sneak on past the arguing pair and into the mountain, opening the giant doors and heading inside.
