Nothing about possession in any of the times Luna mentions the Nightmare Moon incident. She acted on her jealousy and did a bad thing and is glad it’s over. She even showed that she can retake her Nightmare Moon form any time she pleases to entertain kids on pony Halloween. The comic book did something different, and is cool as Nightmare Rarity was, the fact is that in the show there is never once an “it wasn’t quite Luna” out.
So, Nyx is a part of Luna and everything that led to them being friends is still there. Only Nyx is another filly instead of a millennia-old ruler and so can spend more time with her, and it could lead to shippiness without being kinda creepy.
