The thing is the fourth-wall breaking have to happen in the end of an episode. Neither 1 or 2 really nded with that. But it came pretty close with Twilight staring at Neightmare Moon or directly in the camera.
 
The discord moment don’t count because the episode didn’t end with it.
 
And does Nightmare Moon, Discord and the Everfree Forest count as returning villains?  
NMM and Discord where flashback and the Everfree is more like an antagonist of nature.
