As has been mentioned a few times, the “Cadence aged” point Doesn’t exactly work. At least, as far as we know, and this particular trope seems to be much more common than the alternatives.
They’re going to live forever. Or at least until the burden of having to manually grant extended life to ponies starts to weigh down too heavily on Twilight’s mind with who she does and doesn’t give it to, if its right to do so, etc.
I’m also of the “Twi and Cad are mortal” group, but I will point out that if alicorns were naturally immortal, aging would slow to a stop, not halt.
And I really want someone to draw Celestia telling them they don’t die till she says so.
It happens more often than you think.
Pretty much all we know for certain about pony lifespans is that Celestia and Luna are over a thousand years old, and that Granny Smith is over a hundred. There’s no basis for assuming Twilight and Cadance are now immortal. Just the opposite, in fact: Cadance has been shown to age at what appears to be a normal rate, despite being an alicorn.
And that’s not even getting into whether the whole “immortality blues” trope is justified in the first place.

Ain’t pessimism, it’s being realistic. Celestia and Luna don’t have any friends outside of the mane 6. What happens when they die? Gotta make new friends. Again. Or just not make friends at all. McCarthy claims Twilight won’t outlive her friends, but I think she said that just because she realized just how fucked her future is. Either they all become princesses or Twilight’s alone 100 years down the line.
Don’t need to, Princess Celestia and Luna are already proven to be virtually ageless, and dragons are shown to be very long lived. Even if you don’t consider Twilight or Cadence immortal, it’s inevitable a scenario to this extent will happen.
