The concept of an adoptable is on shaky legal ground since you would need to register it as a trademark to actually protect it and trademarks have strict usage requirements in order to maintain. Anyone who actually buys one of these likely does not understand IP law, which makes the whole enterprise look like a scam since it targets people who don’t realize what they are spending money on. It’s similar to the whole “closed species” nonsense which also exploits the average person’s lack of legal understanding.
