Hard to be proud of the failed slaver revolt and its legacy.
Choose literally almost anything else to be proud about and you’re good to go. Regional cuisine, the beautiful countryside, the significant contributions to language and literature.
But being so thoroughly racist and lazy that you were willing to “leave” America and steal the fruits of other people’s labor to prop up a pseudo-aristocracy forever? There is nothing to be proud about in that.
