Rogue freelance writers are, in theory, supposed to be reined in and checked by a good story editor. So maybe some of the writing problems can be traced back to a poor job by a story editor or director.
Yeah that’s why we have 7 more seasons, a movie, all the Equestria Girl specials, a one hour long special, so many different little shorts on YouTube, and finally a brand new generation. It is very irrelevant as I can see.
Come on guys, you know the show is almost irrelevant and the fandom forever.
After S2 we just got characters fodder for fics and lewds
The fact that there are still fans that think like this is actually really sad.
Dude, it has been 10 years… move on…
Lol.
S1-2 was the only time MLP FIM was an extremely well written cartoon.
And nothing will ever came close to it
What? I guess I never read the comics so I don’t know that much. I got from superhero info from movies, TV shows and stuff. I guess considering how long comic books have been going and knowing how ridiculous they could be, I shouldn’t be surprised. :P
Dude…Wonder Woman was literally the fist superhero to have a “no kill rule” while Superman and Batman were pretty comfy on murdering people on the streets.
Also, Wonder Woman in the crossovers is a serious killer than has no respect for civilians lives.
But Wonder Woman in her solos doesn’t want to kill the Cheetah after she burned an orphanage and did genocide on random states of Africa.
Same thing for the pones I’d say, it depends from writer and episode plot.
Well, the difference with Wonder Woman is that she is a warrior and superhero. Of course She has to be cruel to bad guys and kind to good guys. She doesn’t have a no-kill rule like Batman and Superman. Honestly she is more of a warrior and she will kill if necessary.
Kinda this
The writers liked the idiot stick because they were too cowardly to use new characters to teach the same friendship lessons. Instead, it was direct retreads of old episodes. The M6 had largely wrapped up their personal arcs by the end of S6, yet the show still had three more seasons and an insistence that they remain the protagonists.
Taking away a greatly developed character’s progress to emphasize a one-time character’s lesson is a very poor decision. It’s just not okay. More so since the characters who are being harassed involuntarily are the ones every fan fell in love with in the first place, otherwise this fandom wouldn’t thrive, and said characters wouldn’t be so popular even after all this time and g5 coming.
I’m not saying it is a bad thing g4 went so long on, after all there were some amazing episodes in s6-9. And I loved that is didn’t stop so soon. But I really wish the producing team would’ve made the new writers watch with intent the earlier seasons at least once. Continuity was cast under a curse where sometimes the episode honored the earlier episodes and the universe as a whole but sometimes it was blatantly swiped under the rug.
Long rant, ending now.
Well, duh it’s purpose was pretext to expand the world. But as a magical McGuffin that goes “character X and character Y now have to go here for unexplained reason,” it’s lazy writing.
Some of the episode ended up pretty decent, but the way the friendship lessons play out post Cutie Map are far more contrived.
it purpose was to expand the world they live in. There were probably some other ways they could have done that. There also some episode that could have gone different route.
No
Was there anything inherently wrong with it?
Also no
I don’t get it.
Edited
Yeah, me neither….
