And for someone who was supposedly so bitter and angry at Princess Celestia, Sunset sure didn’t waste much time enrolling in a school run by Principal Celestia.

My headcanon: all the things that frustrated us with Celestia’s handling of Twilight (didn’t tell her what she was being prepared for, didn’t tell her the purpose of her mission to Ponyville, didn’t come to the rescue even when things got really bad, etc.) was because she had done all those things with Sunset, and feared failing Twilight the same way.
 
I haven’t read any of the comics, though, so that might not fit with those.
