This time with a shiny ECS system allowing (in theory) for much, much higher performances.
It was kinda hard to get it to work at all, but this new engine seems really promising.
Rendering also got upgraded to HDRP while I was at it : it should be a bit prettier, not that it matter much with low-poly and/or cartoon style.
So here is the first prototype : 1000 (literally) Anonfillies under the player’s control.
Download (61.3Mo) here.

Yeah, that was the Level-Of-Details system doing weird stuff.
I haven’t tried the demo yet, but in the video some of the ponies disappear and reappear, I’m guessing its a rendering issue with the engine?
Still Unity, but they are basically making a second engine inside it, whose various parts are optional and at diverse level of completion. It’s kind of a mess.
New engine is based on things like ECS and “forcing” people to write low-level-compatible code, so it work in a completely different ways than regular Unity (or even other game engines).

you speak of a new engine, but which one is it?
Damn right, sadly if I push it to 10 000 horses the refresh rate fall at 13-14 FPS.
According to profiling it’s pretty much entirely a rendering problem tho, which can be solved by switching to a renderer designed specifically for this kind of stuff, but that one is so experimental it still lack basic features like animations.
Oh man, Lemmings with Filly Anons would be amazing. Just be sure to include the NUKE! button.
