Girl, you need to love yourself before you can love someone else and especially before they really love you. Don’t go out and base your life on a false image, crafted based what you think others want, craft your image based one what you want. You’ll be more confident in yourself and will be more confident in your ability to enrich the lives of others, be they your friend, family, or significant others.
 
That being said, don’t expect to just get what you want or expect that what you want and what you are is what what another person wants in a relationship. While it’s good to have courage and try (trying is better than wondering what could have been), there are times where it’s best to know when to fold. Sometimes people aren’t compatible and that’s perfectly fine, some people are better as friends. You’re never really in the friend zone of you truly value them as a friend.
 
Never stop bettering yourself and at the end of the day do what’s best for you.
 
Edit: I know I’m talking to a fictional character but maybe this will brighten your day and if it does, it was worth the time to write it. Stay strong and don’t let one or several bad days prevent you from having good days in the future.

I’m a big Spike x Sweetie Belle shipper, and I always did imagine a scenario where Sweetie does try be more like her sister to get his attention. This is pretty spot on (if saddening).

Like on some sitcom, the younger sibling developed a crush on their older sibling potential crush which I thought could be good story idea for Spike & Sweetie Belle. Sweetie Belle could secretly cheer on Spike and tried to help him win Rarity’s heart but eventually caused her to developed feelings for Spike. This caused some friction between Sweetie Belle and Rarity especially after she listen to Rarity whine about find a nice guy that treat her well.

Yeah… but we got good ol’ Pony Berserker making good on that.

I always thought the writers should’ve had Sweetie Belle develop a crush on Spike, if for nothing other than jealousy of her big sister. The comedy potential of dueling marshmelodramas should’ve been too good to pass up.

I just look over the transcript to the break up break down episode and the characters that the CMC ask were Pipsqueak, Button Mash, and Snip & Snail. They didn’t ask Spike at all if he was Sweetie Bell secret admirer.

It is a pretty funny idea, personally I took it as Spike having a crush on Rarity for her personality after all the years they’ve hung go.  
So Sweetie was coming at this the completely wrong way.

Actually the girls did ask him if he was a secret admirer to Sweetie Belle in Season 8 The Break Up Break Down episode. Most of us are pretty sure that wasn’t an accidental implied cameo.
 
Technically there’s not much for Sweetie and Spike to be together either. I just drew this because I was entertained by the thought of her crying while wearing human Rarity’s clothes. I don’t canonically ship anything.

Considering the character doesn’t canonically exist except as a two second background pony in a single second season episode… no. There are far more characters she has far better chemistry with that would make a lot more sense in terms of who she does and doesn’t get along with.
