Kinda. There are more ponies than you’d think in G4 who are based on older generations. I’m not a huge fan of the old G1 and G3 cartoons, but I do find it fascinating to try to follow the “lineage”, so to speak, of the G4 characters.
To complicate things further, there also exists an early G4 Blind Bag figurine named Fizzypop who’s clearly based on G3 Fizzy Pop.
I’m also pretty sure G3 Fizzy Pop is in turn based on G1 Fizzy. I understand she was something of a fan favourite. Just look at all the fanart of her on this site.
This one took me far too long to notice. I kept wondering why people were drawing Tempest with a sundae cutie mark until finally one day I stumbled across an image of G3 Fizzy Pop.

I’m really excited to see which characters get brought back and updated for G5 and not only from G4 but earlier generations as well.
