Ok, thank you. I think it’s really important to give artists credit for their work. After all, an edit of their work is a derivative copyright, and their rights are retained, so they still own this edit. And if you continually disrespect them they probably aren’t going to be very happy about your use of their art, and that makes takedowns a lot more likely. Not just of your edit of their work, but of all of their art. Because who wants their art on a site that doesn’t even acknowledge their work?
 
This isn’t hypothetical or speculative. It happens. And it would be good if we as a community could avoid it happening again, or at least do the minimum work necessary to respect artists in the first place so it doesn’t become a problem later.
