As you might’ve guessed from other comments, this is about Fallout: Equestria. The main six (minus Fluttershy) comforting Littlepip. This is because, without getting too spoiler, an imprint of their souls are in those little statuettes around Littlepip.

Rainbow isn’t confirmed dead, the last time we have any mention of her is when she battles Gilda who has a contract for Dash’s life. However, it’s worth noting that each of the main six made a huge mistake by taking their virtue to an extreme that contributed to the problems of the war, and then received a poetic punishment in return. In Dash’s case her drive to defend Equestria at all cost, and belief that pegasi should lead the charge led to her leading large recruitment drives among pegasi. Which, when the war went badly, resulted in those pegasi on the homefront resenting how much they had had lost (family memebers, primarily) in general and Dash in particular. Which, to make a long story short, led to the formation of the Enclave who then put out a contract on Dash’ life as a traitor, resulting in an hold friend hunting her down. Her dying at Gilda’s claws, while not confirmed, is sort of implied as it aligns her fate with the theming of the fates of the other main six members. So, all evidence points to her being dead.
 
Of course, other stories are free to do what they want, as Kkat has given carte blanche to play in the sandbox she created, so long as everyone recongnizes that nothing anyone else writes is canon to the original. And since there’s some ambiguity about Dash’s death … well people like the main six and want them in their stories. And Dash is the only one we have any ambiguity about. So she turns up from time to time.

Twilight’s soul is still around, but she’s physically dead. As for Dash, see the above comment. As for the souls thing: The statuettes have a piece of Rarity’s soul in them, making them soul jars and thus indestructible. A separate, unrelated spell put an imprint of the appropriate soul onto each statuette. This is why Littlepip comments it’s like Rarity’s soul wearing costumes, which makes is a cute metaphor but not entirely accurate. Rarity’s perception of her friends don’t actually affect the spell as the spells are unrelated other than having been cast on the same object.

actually twilight was alive in the og, she was merged with trixie and two others to form the goddess and it is implied that her soul got imprinted on one of the alicorns after pip killed the goddess

True, in Horizons we got a ghoul RD. And in the original it was up to the reader to decide if Gilda slaughtered Rainbow Dash after she left Canterlot.

Rarity used a carpet in her office that took a ‘picture’ of her friends souls and then used that to imprint there aspects onto her own soul. So it’s a viable imprint.

The statuettes contained a ‘imprint’ of there souls. So yes, the statue would have her ideas, thoughts, loyalty.
 
Course the actual soul that it was imprinted on was Rarity’s. Because she was generous…even with her very soul.

OK i know it’s not canon or soft canon but isn’t rainbow technically alive in that timeline? i mean she is just MIA in the original fallout equestria

About that part of the book I think she was having a VERY bad time.

She still had a statue though with a imprinted part of herself in it. But going by the lack of a statue at littlepips hooves she might not have found it yet. It was the last one she found after all.

The scary part is there all Rarity. Her soul shredded into 43 pieces with just a imprint of her friends attached to them.
