close enough, lava have the consistency of dough (and, in theory, a similar texture); it lets you sink in, but it oppose a lot of token resistance

magma is a bit different, but still close

its true, molten rock, AKA rock liquid rock is a liquid that wouldn’t feel like sand but if you were a human with dragon skin (there is no wrong way to fantasize lol) and decided to hop into a lava pool, you would realize its like sand. i mean as in when you try to push down on sand it makes an indent but it doesn’t let your hand sink in. when you pour hot water on sand in a steel bucket and then push your hand down, the sand wont let your hand sink in. i bring up hot water because normally hot water helps loosen up some dense objects, like wood and plastic, etc.

that’s not a backed up fact, that’s just my logical interpretation and experience.

Obviously, whatever dragons are made from is denser than rock, because they sink in molten rock rather than floating on top of it.

I had a similar observation during a certain episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion, only it was giant robots and not dragons. But maybe these giant robots are part dragon.
