buzzfeed is worst because made shitpost news.
The overall problem with gay and minorities in general tokenism. Their defining traits become their sexuality, religion, or ethnicity. And all of their characters is built upon these uninteresting traits. This is why “diverse” narrative fail so hard. My advise for “diversity” advicates to succeed in their purpose is to create white straight characters, make them interesting, and then turn them into gay/black/whatever. A straight white character is not liked cause is straight and white. So don’t expect a gay and/or black character to be liked just cause is gay and/or black. No one give a shit about that. There is nothing engaging about that, nothing that make the reader/viewer say “i wanna see what’s coming next” or “i wanna know more about this”.
You’re a hero for finally putting this into words, Thank You
Wise words.
If there will be next drama like this, I’ll concider your idea ^^
They harm me less when I ignore them. I am in the fandom.
They would not change if I paid attention to them. The harm they would inflict (by receiving more attention and thus relevance) is not worth the outcome. There is no victory to be had in this battle.
Those who do pay attention already agree and are also not harmed. They’re welcome to their opinions.
You’d do well to ignore Vogel and the like. The harm you think happens doesn’t, and you cant prevent it in any way other than to yourself by ignoring it.
That’s actually a really smart thing to say and do.
If thier action wouldn’t have any hurtful effects to the fandom, that’s probably what I’d do. ^^
My solution is to ignore Twitter in general and Vogel especially. Before watching any episode, I try my best to avoid all spoilers, teasers, hype, speculation, reviews, criticism, discussion, etc.
If the woke crowd wants to suck each other off, let them.
(the cons on having the same discussion over few diffrent pics, not sure what I said here or there :P)
I’m gonna probably repeat myself, but I don’t mind gay characters in the show. Actually, I’ve said that it would be fair if we would get an LGBT themed episode, as we had so many straight episodes. I suggested the idea of having Trixie realize that she feels more than just friendship towards Starlight, and battles this feeling for a whole episode. I think it would make for a very interesting and adorable episode.
I absolutely loved the character’s of Aunts as they were portrayed in the show, because of thier subtlety. If I wasn’t exposed to this drama beforehand, I’m not even sure if I’d get the idea that they may be together. For all we saw, they were just 2 adorable and loving ladies living together.
What I have problem with, is the fact that before the episode aired, the writers started gathering attention to the show, purely on the basis of this character’s sexuality.
Here’s a quote from my other comment:
If you want to make Gay characters, go for it. Just tackle the subject in a tasteful way. Do not try to get publicity on “how woke you are”, do not treat it as the main selling point of the characters and do not reveal such important details about them on a Twitter.
Remember, story is always more important than the message. If you want to show inclusivity of the universe portrayed in your work of fiction, write 2 really good, detailed and interesting characters and THEN decide over thier sexuality.
And if ever someone comes up to you, asking “are they together in a relationship?” you should answer:
“Yeah, so what? It’s not like that’s a big deal or something”
If this is how Mr. Vogel would behave, I wouldn’t be able to praise him enough for such behaviour.
I mean, sure. But they had also just introduced seven new, interesting characters that all needed to acclimate to modern Equestria in the finale of the prior season. That was plenty of fresh and interesting material to work with.
@AWGear
I am not a massive fan of the school of friendship, but I’m also self-aware enough to realize that it’s mainly from the perspective who has nostalgia going back 7+ years and not necessarily a matter of writing. It’s a hard change to accept for me, but if the writing staff had stuck with regular storylines they would have gotten repetitive after nine seasons so I’m sure this was just to keep things somewhat fresh. Either way they would have had to make SOME change from the general story structure and we wouldn’t be happy with any of them because they’re different.
I agree with nearly everything you said. Mr. Vogel is obnoxious, the S8 school of friendship was a terrible idea, his opinions on Sombra are obnoxious, and Cozy Glow isn’t a compelling villain.
But the thing is, straight relationships get to be in the show. Mr. and Mrs. Cake have been with us and flaunting their heterosexuality since the early days. Making babies and everything. Cadance and Shining Armor got two two-parter episodes in a row about their straight love. The first was about their wedding, their straight love was literally the resolution to the conflict, then they went on to get their own Empire to rule. Fueled by their heterosexuality and baby-making.
But for some reason, showing two adult women in love with each other is forbidden. It’s suddenly an agenda. They didn’t perform sexual acts on each other, kiss, hold hooves, or even hug. They were subtle and not at all focused on.
But this is a problem for some reason.
You just recognize them.
What kind of show did you think this was?
Bias like what?
GamerGate was what, 3 years ago at this point?
Besides, how can you know what I say if you refuse to read my posts? I’d love to hear what “bias” do you think I have.
I am just curious on why you decided to insult me, without even reading what I said. If it’s too much of a hassle to read my comment, then why you take the time of your day to insult me? Seem’s pretty pointless to me.
Edited
Im not reading yet another of your rambly comic book Guy rant because its very obvious at this point you let your bias as well as your GamerGaters nonsense of “stop pushing politics” taint every trace of jugement you might have
