I never really considered what Di’s cutie mark meant, but I agree that her Mom was a bad influence on her. Fortunately all it took to help was the Crusaders opening up and helping her out to change for the better. After all, a cutie mark can look like one thing but could mean something completely else, like what happened with Trouble Shoes.
I always thought that her Cutie Mark meant that she had a talent at making jewellery, and that it was only because of her Mom forcing her into the role that she wanted her daughter to become that caused Diamond Tiara to end up abandoning her passion and cause “Cutie Mark Failure Syndrome”: which ends up warping her own personality and psyche away from what she originally intended and transforming DT into the bully archetype we saw her as for the longest time.
Meaning she was never pure evil. Pure means they never redeem themselves, no matter what.
