I also no longer see the complexity, divided power and many checks and balances of the EU is a bad thing. It means that it’s very difficult to corrupt or being take over by fascists. That’s not to say we should be complacent and think it can’t happen but compared to a more centralized and unaccountable power structure like that of the UK it’s far more difficult for a single group of nefarious elites to take control of the EU. As more and more fascists pop up in Europe I see the EU as one of the biggest protections against them as it means none of them can use xenophobia for absolute power. I feel the EU though needs to make that more clear and crack down harder on Victor Orban who is such a xenophobic fascist leader.
I’m also not sure if the amount of red tape is a bad thing. The US and UK did a lot of red tape cutting and the result was loopholes for the strong to abuse the weak as well as environmental destruction like the sewers in Britain. The more rules you have that apply to the strong and the weak the more the strong are limited in how they can abuse the weak. Without the regulations of the EU we would be completely at the mercy of European corporations who would lie, exploit and pollute their way to hyper profits at the expense of everyone and everything else. We know this cause this is what’s happening in the UK and these EU restrictions were actually the main reason the UK wanted to leave. That and the fact that the UK has a lot of criminals with London being the world center for whitewashing dirty money and the EU was going to launch a project for fiscal transparency.
I feel there needs to be more direct democracy in the EU. Europe is so large and diverse that without direct democracy in the EU itself the top in the EU would be so far removed from the people that it would be elitist rule.

No, Europe will never be a powerhouse ever again. Our time of world dominance passed well over a century ago. We need to focus on social development to try to create a sustainable economy. Not just technologically but structurally. Capitalism is not sustainable because an economy without growth leads to hardship. Economies can’t keep growing forever so we have to find a way to keep prosperity without growth.

I see a possibility for a new way forward away from imperialism and towards solidarity and socialism. We need to make sure the democratization of the EU is strenghtened further.
Did you mean to draw states located in Europe (for Europe’s day - may 5) or only member states of European Union (may 9)? Those two things are not interchangeable.
If latter is the case I’d suggest changing the description to avoid confusion.
@AWGear
It’s a thing I realized while I was inking and I was like “mmm it looks like a nazi salute, I’m going to move it a biiiiit” and then it looked even more like a nazi salute so I stayed with the first version because it’s the least nazi :’3
So many tri-color flags in B&W, it’s a guessing game which pony is which country. ^^
Just try to differentiate between Italy, Belgium, France, Ireland & Romania. xD
