The power armor is like a giant exo-suit that is neurologically linked to its user. The fact that its users are genetically engineered superhumans also helps.

Oh, and those are the “normal” sized armors. If you think that’s bulky, you haven’t seen the Terminators

Thank you backpony, It has been a long time since I checked W40k lore sites like the “lexicanum” sorry I was not 100% right. XD

Actually, it’s only the space marines who have the Black Carapace implant that lets them interface with their armor. Other humans can use different models of powered armor, and they don’t need to be linked to it, but it tends to be less effective for various reasons (for example, they can’t have the armor’s sensors linked directly to their brains.

The 40k stuff is supposed to be powered, certainly the stuff nobility wears would be.

Wfb armour, I dunno. Well-made RL armour, even late mediaeval European plate, hangs well and doesn’t really slow you down as much as you think. For the RP and games, I think the bulky chaos stuff is supposed to be a living part of the wearer…

@RIG:

I was a (sort of) of W40K, so if I remember correctly, it goes like this.

to put it simple, everyone who wears a power armor, has some sort of small circuits just under the skin throughout his entire body, this allows the power armor to move with the body… otherwise it will be like a normal person wearing a 2tons armor.

It’s all powered armor, servos and technology make it not just practical, but superior to nearly all other forms of armor.
