I have to agree with you on that. A lot of the more complicated designs looked cool but they didn’t seem like they’d fit Friendship is Magic’s current style. Plus some of them didn’t appear to be animation friendly or easy to translate onto toy designs.

And at the very least, their final designs are more fitting. I think the designs here are cool, but they seem out of place.

They went with more complex and wild designs in the earliest stages before simplifying the designs to suit MLP better. It was kind of deliberate on their part.

As cool as these look, I say they’d probably stick out like a sore thumb if they were in the movie. I mean, let’s face it; they look like something out of Dungeons and Dragons, rather than My Little Pony.
