Pls. Starlight is already OP enough and is absolutely not ready to become an alicorn. This is like ascending a construction worker to the Monarch of britain or something. It just wont work.  
She can just be a high level mage. Yknow, like starswirl. And honestly i think shes happier that way. Imagine if Sunset got turned into an alicorn. Shed get homesick for her friends on the other side. Starlight would get severe whiplash by going from ‘ok. Im trying to reform my actions now. Im trying to be a good person. Ill work it out somehow, with my friends.’ TO ’ holy shit i have to rule an entire nation/village’  
She is WAY better off as a Counselor.

Okay, so even if I give Starlight the benefit of the doubt and say she didn’t realize she was being an evil bitch kidnapping the mane 6… no…I can’t even humor this logic.
 
Even if you’re going to blindly defend her and harbor a huge bias and say she only did that because Twilight foiled her plans, she screwed with time for solely malicious and vengeful purposes.
 
She doesn’t deserve wings. Cozy Glow got sent to Tartarus than what Starlight did.

Neither did Starlight. She thought she was helping others by getting rid of their cutie marks because she believed the differences they caused drove ponies apart. And she believed Twilight did something wrong by stopping her, making her revenge justified.
 
If intent is the only way by which you judge someone’s actions, than by your own flimsy reasoning, Starlight did nothing wrong.

capability only in the sense that Twilight isn’t totally willing to give absolutely everything if the goal is not “good”. Twilight has a limiter placed on her. Due to her upbringing she’s aligned on the lawful good so anything on the evil / neutral side will not display her full power.
 
However, both have the power and knowledge to flip the entirety of Ponyville upside down at this point.
 
Also being an alicorn doesn’t mean being Both Sunset and Sci-Twi temporarily ascended to Alicornhood and we all know Sci-Twi hasn’t done anything close to Twilight.
 
So IF Starlight was to ascend it wouldn’t be through somepony’s blessings or magical powerup. It would be through herself or some Uber powerful spell she created.

Twilight didn’t come close to managing the first, and the second, although bad, still had the motivation to defeat a genuinely damaging foe. And she didn’t get away with that either.
 
Really, the only thing separating them is capability to get awful things done.
 
I’m not saying Twilight is a good person, I’m just saying she isn’t on par with Star.
 
And it’s a sad day when I, of all people, have to defend her.

She tried stopping time and thus suspend reality in one particular instance just so she can prevent a disaster.
 
That is extreme. Push Twilight far enough and she would steal a magical artifact from an entire kingdom. So no. Twilight and Starlight have equal potential of creating an apocalypse. Twilight just had the luck of being guided by Celestia early on, thus putting her squarely on the good and moral side.
 
Twi and Starlight share very similar nature, but they were nurtured differently.
 
Sunset as well. Celestia didn’t guide Sunset the way she guided Twilight. She actually regretted that.

It’s no worse then a lot of the crap Twilight did, yet still became an Alicorn. Not to mention a lot of stuff she did after becoming an alicorn.
