To each their own! If every artist followed the same template, the art we really like (individually) would never emerge for most of us.
I really like the general form Yakovlev uses for their pones, which IMO is a nice balance of several elements — canine as you said, horse, and human. My estimation, anyway.
Feels like the blush was added by a random editor. Not fitting at all.
I kinda like it like that. It makes it seem like the blush is “newer” than anything else in the picture. Kinda like “Oh shit! Is this turning me on?” It’s slightly more expressive to me than if it was “part” of the picture.
Yakovlev’s style for the ponies is always like dog anatomy. He gives them tiny, near non-existent butts and no belly just like dogs. Well I guess since he is a furry artist he just draws all his characters like deer, dogs, and ponies with the same basic anatomy.
The ponies are not dogs. The ponies have bellies and they have bigger butts.
