I felt really for sunset shimmer. If only if i could find some way to cheer her up

As much as I want to believe it non-canon, what proof is there? When have they canonically demonstrated intelligence such that not realizing Sunset would have no reason to do this at this point is OOC? Ignoring lessons and baseless jerkassery is nothing new even in the show.
 
My problem is there is just enough reason for this scenario (Sunset’s past, everyone being blinded by anger) that, unlike some comics, I can’t call this OOC enough to dismiss on that basis.
 
I’m certain the comic was penned before they knew of Rainbow Rocks ending, and to was too late to fix it. Any idea why they would bother to include RR content than if this was the result?
