I will only say that a cathedral is a Christian church containing the cathedra or ‘seat’ of a bishop, thus serving as the central church of a diocese, conference, or episcopate.
A temple is a structure reserved for religious or spiritual rituals and activities like prayer and sacrifice.
There is a difference between the two, with cathedral being a word referring to a specific kind of building fr a specific religion and temple being more generic.
It would bug me as much if they referred to the hippogriff temple in the book as a mosque or synagogue. These are religious beliefs that don’t exist in the setting and it feels jarring to see their terminology be used for it.

Actually, “cathedral” and “temple” are the same thing.
Seems legit
The Friendship Gospel. At its rate of growth in power, they’ll have a deity in the Tree of Harmony. They’ll pepper in “friendship is magic” like it was “may the Force be with you”. I like to think musical numbers would be part of the services, like ponies do all the time but also as an allusion to the one with James Brown in the Blues Brothers.
