I used to like the whole descended Twilight thing because it was just the right amount of tragic.

Then I found out it’s just another “AU character specifically written to crave anons dick” and it just tainted the whole idea for me.

Yeah, that’s pretty much the main reason I think it a spin-off. Lessened main characters, really only two regulars from the main series, or three if you count the doctor that was an intern in season 8. And I do, I liked her, I think it’s a shame she arrived late in the series.  
But the main reason I call it a spin off is because ‘Med School’ is in the title sequence for no reason, so it really did seem like slapping season 9 on the series was a last minute choice.

Zach Braff was imo the heart and soul of that series even though as the seasons went on it was a bit less and less of him being in the spotlight, him being more of a cameo in the last season along with removing some of the other main characters really killed it for me.

Watch the youtube clip in the description. It’s basically word for word what Dr. Cox says to JD that duop puts into a twilight/celestia context. Not in character for either pony, but I can actually see an alternate universe version of them acting like this.

I know this is some kind of reference but this is really out of character for Celestia.

I consider it a spin-off. Which seems like the original plan of it anyway until they slapped ‘Season 9’ on it.  
It’s good… just not compared to the regular series.

I miss that series, even the last season which was probably the worst, was still worth watching (mainly due to Dr. Cox).
