Happens WAY more often than you’d think, even for sterile women. Because very often their fertility is just EXTREMELY low, making conception unlikely. Or low fertility is the result of a medical condition and the body fixes itself over the year, regaining it’s fertility.

You know, this reminds me of a show I watched. Or rather a few episodes of because my mom was into it.
 
It was about a small town in Alaska and a doctor that moved there from Michigan. Two of the characters were decades removed from each other in age, but we’re in a romantic relationship. There wasn’t a lot of worry in it cause the guy thought he was sterile until one day the girl announces she’s preggo. Shocked, the guy goes and gets his sperm tested by the doctor main character and he points out that while he’s technically sterile, he does have a handful of healthy spermiceti in each load.
 
So, I’ve certainly seen that twist used.
