True. But some cover helps in that case. Also playing in 3rd person would help out as well depending on the location. There’s also the relatively unknown cover mechanics in Fallout 4 that you can use as well…. when in 1st person and when near a corner or behind something, aim towards it and your character will usually hold their gun close. Just aim and you will lean out from beside the corner to allow you some partial cover and still be able to shoot.

It all depends on your accuracy and weapon. Energy types reflect off of them pretty badly and don’t do a whole lot of damage to them. Explosives are very effective and physical stuff is normally effective. Depending on your situation it is usually best to get the higher ground and try to only engage 1 on 1.
