Flurry Heart sat in her room, touching up her makeup. It was her big day, the day she would be crowned Queen of the crystal empire. Most fillies dreamed of a life like this, this kind of promise. However, Flurry couldn’t even muster a smile… that was until she heard a knock on the door. It was a knock only a certain pony would ever make. Three soft knocks and one hard. The knock of her marefriend.  
“Come on in Quilly!” Flurry chirped, turning to the door and barely managing to pull a fake smile. The door opened and there stood a unicorn. Tall to most ponies, though anyone looked like and infant next to Flurry. She levitated a notepad in her horn.  
“Are you ready?” Quilling Quote asked, walking up to the soon to be Queen.  
“As ready as I’ll ever be!” Flurry laughed, though her mood changed almost suddenly as she looked back to herself in the mirror. A frown grew on her face.  
Quill walked over to her lover and placed a hoof on her shoulder.  
“What if I’m not ready…” Flurry spoke, breaking the short silence between the two.  
“Well you co-” The unicorn was cut off by another knock at the door, “That must be the guards ready to lead you through the square. I’ll see you at the main coronation area.”  
Flurry sighed as she exited her room. There were two crystal guards there, ready to escort her. Flurry quickly pulled a fake smile,and began walking with them.
 
“Yes yes have a good day!” Flurry waved as she walked through the crowd. The door behind her shut and she sighed.  
“Princess…” One of the guards spoke.  
“Ah… right. Ahem.” The Alicorn cleared her throat and lit her horn, teleporting the three to the top of the tower, just behind a set of curtains. There stood her family, along with Quill, who gave a reassuring smile. The alicorn’s parents had tears in their eyes, her father almost weeping, and her cousin, Star Sign, had an obvious look of jealousy on her face. Flurry stepped forward, along with those behind her. The crowd cheered at the sight of the Princess.  
Sunburst, one of the many ponies behind the curtain, now standing next to Flurry, lit his horn and cast a voice amplification spell.  
“Greetings citizens of the Crystal Empire!” The orange unicorn spoke, “It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to your new Queen!”  
Flurry bowed her head slightly as the crowd cheered even louder. The Alicorn could feel her heart rate increasing. She ignored it, however, and turned to the stallion, bowing her head fully now. The unicorn slowly levitated the small tiara off of the mare’s head. He then picked up a much larger one, that had the pattern of three snowflakes upon it. Matching that of her neck piece.  
Sunburst carefully lowered the crown onto Flurry’s head. They turned back to the crowd, who were screaming as if their favorite hoofball team had just won a close game.  
Flurry’s ears began to ring, and even though she could tell the stallion next to her was talking, she could not hear him. Tears formed in the corners of her eyes and slowly started trickling down her face.  
“…she will be a fair and just ruler, just as her… my Queen?” Sunburst noticed the Alicorn’s distress.  
“I CAN’T DO THIS!” Flurry yelled, just as loud, if not louder, as Sunburst with the voice spell. She threw down the crown and ran through the curtains, leaivng all other ponies quite confused.
