School natural museum tour. Science is awesome! “Where’s Sunset?” She accidentally found a newly-active part of the Canterlot Tar Pits before anyone else knew about it. Glub.
 
The beach? Someone asks, “Where’s Sunset?” Cut to her being swallowed up by the beach. Glub.
 
Picnic at the park? “Hey, where’s Sunset?” Oh, good, she accidentally found where the broken water line is, our crew was looking for that all day. Glub.
 
Sugarcube Corner? “Hey, where’s Sunset?” Cut to her going under in the 5000 gallon tub of cream cheese frosting Pinkie has because of…reasons. Glub.
 
Sunset at work? “Hey, has anyone seen Sunset?” She’s frantically waving for help as she goes under in a giant vat of sushi rice. Glub.
 
She gets escorted back to her apartment by her friends, they turn their backs, they hear frantic screams. They turn around and she’s going under in her landlord’s over-watered flower bed. Apparently she’s trying to sprout swamp-grass so she can have it declared a legal wetland and never have to pay a lawn crew again and never bothered to tell anyone about it, including Sunny. Glub.
 
One rescue later, she’s back in her apartment. She vows to never leave again and she won’t let her friends leave, either. “YOUR BUCKING HELL-PLANET IS TRYING TO EAT ME! DAMMIT, STOP TRYING TO FEED ME OATMEAL, PINKIE, IT’S GOING TO MURDER ME! BREAKFAST WILL SMOTHER ME IN MY SLEEP!”

I must admit that this is still not my thing. I often struggle to understand this kind of fetish because, well, given that this got semi-grimdark, you might understand why (I tend to outright overlook non semi-grimdark or grimdark fetishes, whatever turns you on as Proto Man said).
 
However, I still thought Sunset’s face in the third panel was hilarious because again this is the third time I see this kind of picture, she’s all like “Oh no, not again.”

Quicksand does not work that way, but I’m beginning to think that’s the gag. Sunset keeps drowning in quicksand because there is no logic.

That’s right. Quicksand is dense enough that the buoyancy of the human body doesn’t let it sink above the armpits (and that’s if you flail; if you stay calm, you’ll stop sinking at the waist).
