Bride of Discord is a fanfiction and not My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. These two are nothing alike and a few similarities won’t solidate anything.
They can canonize it in the end of S9 and then make play sets about their wedding after show ends in either comics or just in toys.
Well if it sold so well why wouldnt they make it canon earlier? If they hypothetically only have one episode in the last season to promote merchandise the ship wouldnt that be bad advertisement?

What that have to do with anything? Whether im 80 or 9 literally changes nothing. I’m not the one giving millions of views to fan videos like “Bride of Discord” but the intended audience and Hasbro is aware of that. This is why they promoted the the official Discord figurines with Fluttershy after We Love Fine made it first. They know that this ship sells more that Cadance with Shining Armor.

You say “there won’t be” but you have nothing to base this claim and even when you see the ship teasing forshadowing it. Its like seeing dark clouds incoming and saying that it’s not going to rain because you have some wierd precognition about cartoons and main character not getting shipped even though thats what shows like Korra and Kim Possible did at the end.

Fluttershy is a mentor to Discord when she introduces him to pony community and consept of friendship. At most we see Discord having a crush on Fluttershy but they won’t be confessing anything on the show and it is mostly focusing on teasing the subject. Everything is possible in Equestria but there won’t be a confirmed love interest on the show based on the main characters. By the end of S9 you would realize.
Sparity isn’t a good example because it was always created as “one sided childish crush on a older teacher” thing that was popular with Faust era of the 90’s cartoons. Fluttercord was always based and compared by show staff to Beauty & Beast dynamic and thus was always in the realm of posibility.

I think Discordant Harmony as an episode was the kind of closing story arc for their friendship and now on it is occasionally teased as a romance like most ships in the show. Why break the dynamics in the last season since their dynamic works so well in friendship level already?
