It actually gets worse the more you think about it.
Cattle, zebras, sheep and even chimeras have all been shown to speak, but for some reason giraffes and deer are excluded from speaking.
Deer actually have it worse, technically. In the comics they’re an entire culture, but in the show? Nope, regular animals.
It’s not about entitlement, it’s simply about consistency.
I still say the one in the show was faking non-sapience to get free healthcare. She was getting away with it because, since Ponyvillians didn’t even know what a zebra was, it’s unlikely they’d know Giraffes are supposed to be sapient.
You’re not the only one.
Giraffes are cute.
But I still can’t get over how much I would have liked for giraffes to have been sapient in canon.
