This egg on my face is due to the show writers’ eclectic usage of historical inspiration.
No part of him seems Scottish. And even then, your defense still means that he’s Nordic.
One possible thing that could be valid though for him being related to Scotland is that the Vikings conquered quite a few of Northern and Western isles of Scotland. This would mean that the decendants of these islands would have Nordic blood along with Celtic Scottish blood. Is why I let How To Train Your Dragon pass due to their setting.
His cutie mark is a valknut, which is Germanic and also found on some Viking artifacts, as well as his village looking far more Nordic than anything the Picts ever had.
I think he both looks and sounds more Celtic than Nordic.
Edit: Nevermind, I looked up his cutie mark and it’s definitely a Norse symbol.
