They mostly use the money they inevitably end up stealing to buy comic books to fuel their real passion, being a huge nerd in secret. Whenever they’re at home, Covert can truly be themselves, reading in their free time, spending time online with what they consider ‘real’ friends, and away from a life of being a petty thief. It’s a hard pressure to deal with, if they blew their cover, they know they’d get beaten for it, so they keep up the facade to starve off the inevitable future.
%%%%~
If you’re wondering why I left the gender as vague as ‘they’, it’s because I didn’t decide on a gender for them and Zecora’s Zebra muzzles lend themselves well to ambiguity, so I left this Zebra’s gender up to interpretation. You can see them as what you want, male, female, both, neither, attack helicopter, I don’t care, just don’t fuck with the tags for what gender you see, please. I may change my mind in the future, but for now, they are a zebra with no defined gender.
Also yes, the tank top and leg band are based on the Team Skull Grunts from Pokemon Sun/Moon. The tank top is from the male grunt, and the leg band is from the female grunt.
Link to a naked version so you can see the stripes better.
There’s too many boring looking Zebra OCs out there, more color is needed.
I’ll be honest, I think that relating MLP Zebras to IRL human races and adding human race issues to it is, well, stupid. It’s not fun or funny and it just gives people excuses to be assholes about it. Pony race stuff is far more fun to play with anyway without any connection to human problems. Give me wing problems, horn problems, stripe problems? Just no “lol, they’re black” bullshit. Keep your headcanons to yourself and quit projecting your issues onto fictional equines.
I just like colorful stuff. :v So many zebra OCs look the same to me. insert racism joke here
I went for ambiguous gender as I could not decide at all, and zebras (well the one we see in the show) has a fairly androgynous facial structure, and no eyelashes, so zebras lend themselves well to ambiguity.
Thanks, I agree, obviously. ;P
I like how you made their stripes red. The Team Skull outfit’s kind of a nice touch too given their backstory and personality (plus it’s already the colors of other zebra anyways). I like how despite how tough they look, they’re kind of a nerdy softie underneath that facade too. It adds another layer to their character.
I don’t want to make colorful zebras for my OCs (mostly because I don’t want people to confuse them for zebra/pony hybrids). But giving them colorful accessories to make them pop out a bit seems like it could help with that. Could be a nice compromise.
Kind of agree with you in regards to the race thing. Especially when it comes to humanization art of the ponies. Some people get super pissed and defensive when they see human art of any of the pony characters as black and say that it should only be reserved for humanization art of zebra characters. That’s just dumb.
I prefer going the Zootopia route and going with a metaphor when it comes to that thing and use Griffons. Griffons already hate horses in folklore anyways and a lot of the ones in series are pretty mean/grouchy so that’s kind of a good place to start. Plus with Hippogriff offspring, you can delve into a bit into mixed cultured children and families without it being super blatant.

Thanks. :P
@Badheart
Sixth point down.
Ahh, okay! Regardless, I think you have amazing work and is really nice to see someone put in so much effort. ^^
It really depends on what it is and if I’ve done the character/outfit before. If I’ve done them before, obviously it takes less time to redo them, but this isn’t always true. For new characters it can also vary. This one, for example, I managed to get done in several hours, stopping a lot as I thought about details, outfit, backstory, etc.
So my answer really is ‘idk’ as it varies a lot. Sometimes it takes me a few hours, sometimes a few days to a week. Higher rated stuff takes longer too.
^__^
Excellent color choices!Hey, quick question.. on average how long does it take you to vector something? A lot of your original ones look very complex and I can see you pit a deal of effort into them.
Thanks!
A useful comment, wow. What an incredibly useful and helpful comment. 100000000/10
