ATG DAY 26: Draw a pony going back to nature.

Welp, decided to take this prompt and take it into a whole other turn. This probably has to be one of the darkest things I’ve done for ATG thus far. Most of my entries have been fairly light-hearted and when they were more mature, they weren’t too out there. I got kinda inspired by the story of Daphne, because I’m an absolute sucker for Greek mythology. ;) Anyway, decided not a pony not only going back to nature, but actually becoming it. And while I was gonna do Flutters, I can see from a mile away all the Fluttertrees inbound. Plus, I already did her today and she was pretty happy.

the greek god apollo, having bested the earth dragon python, mocked his fellow deity eros, for having useless powers.

so eros found the nymph daphne, who despite being supernaturally beautiful, had sworn to remain chaste for life, and arranged for her to meet with apollo. firing not a golden arrow, but one of his lead arrows into her heart, he filled daphne with hatred for what she saw, what she saw being apollo.

then he fired a gold arrow into apollo’s heart.

well, things got really out of hand, and in the end daphne asked her god, peneus to protect her from apollo. he turned her into a laurel tree, so apollo couldn’t lust after her any longer. this broke the curse, but could not be undone, so in apology, apollo blessed the laurel with evergreen leaves and declared it sacred, and never laughed at eros’s powers again.
