It’s Titanic, and the bad guy is Caledon Hockley, played by Billy Zane.
Yeah, I at first was thinking of The Shining but then thought it might be Evil Dead and that I’d get chewed up for getting that wrong.
And yeah, he’s pretty awesome.
Incidentally the guy you’re thinking of is Bruce Campbell, one of the most badass actors ever.
