In Australia you don’t even need to store them in a safe, but if you use it in what can be considered a “Threatening manner” then it’s basically as bad as doing such with a gun. Don’t know what laws are like where you are.
Well that you’ll have to check with your local weapon legislation, usually they are just regarded as hunting and sport tools, and the chances of someone using them to commit crimes are extremely low compared to, let’s say a handgun or even a knife, in fact nowhere in the weapon decree of my country (Colombia) do they even mention bow, so you can just buy them without any requirement.
If there is any local archery club close they should be able to assist you, but the chances of having any problem from buying or owning a bow should be really slim.
