Not wrong at all… The relationship between Scoots and RD has always been frustration-less before this episode airs, which is unlike how real sisters would experience. Ever since I joined the herd during Season 6 and fell in love with those 2 characters, I’ve been waiting for episodes where they would fight each other and learn from it all. I’m super excited by this episode, as well as The Washouts, because that character growth finally happened.
By the way, the Scoots and RD section in this editorial from EQD explains my view much better than how I did here. It’s a nice read.
@Wesley Foxx
In a bit of fridge brilliance, Scootsaloo would see things as black-and-white being a child and for children mouthing off at your parents is a SERIOUS no-no.
She needed to be a bit more firm and clear, but it still would have worked a lot better for RD’s parents and Scoot and the audience if RD just didn’t snap at her parents.
Which would be a valid defense if telling them “Guys, you’re embarrassing me, stop it” worked, but as demonstrated in the episode, it doesn’t.
To say nothing of how Rainbow didn’t even get a look in. It was just, “RAINBOW DASH IS WRONG.
Yeah, but she still didn’t need to snap at them.
All Bottled Up’s moral was that if you explain to your friend why you are angry and explain it without snapping at them.
Don’t get me wrong, this moral was still iffy, but you shouldn’t snap at people.
… Was she really in the wrong, considering they shot a firework at her and her fellow wonderbolts, and could have actually harmed her/her team mates? They were being distracting at other points and were also embarrassing her on top of that. Also, I don’t see how it was ‘mean’ to not inform them of her wonderbolt status, considering, as shown in the episode, they would’ve done more harm than good by coming to her workplace everyday and distracting her from her work.
Mate. They were cheering her for hanging up a towel. Calm and Reasonable had both left the building long before then.
Still, Dashie was kinda in the wrong, considering she was rather rude/nasty about it, rather then just calmly trying to tell her parents she needs some space, and that they’re obsessing a li’l, she instead repressed it, until she lost her temper, and practically cussed ‘em out. (Not to mention hiding the fact she became a Wonderbolt from them is a li’l mean, when you think about it, despite her understandable “reasons.”)
So I wouldn’t say Scootaloo is completely in the wrong, nor would Dashie be completely in the right for how she acted, and as she said, Dashie probably wouldn’t be as good at stuff if it wasn’t for her parents’ encouragement, and love over the years subconsciously encouraging her to do better.
She doesn’t know the difference.
Her parents aren’t there most of the time to give her the assistance she needs, so you can’t really blame her for not knowing the difference.
I appreciate this comment.
Scootaloo is a wonderful pony, but in this situation?
She just doesn’t get it at all, because she’s not thinking about how RD feels,
she’s thinking about her own feels.
Sorry Scoots: but there’s a difference between supportive parents and obnoxious parents.
Plus it’s not like Rainbow got mad at her parents immediately or anything.
They went on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on the whole damn day.
Then RD accidentally smashes her head against her locker in her barracks at the end of that day,
because they are still giving her no breathing room or personal space, even there.
I cannot blame RD at all for snapping at them (and I’m someone prone to easily blame RD for her aggression).
Instead, I will blame Scootaloo for cluelessly guilt-tripping her about it.
It did lead to some good character bonding/building between RD and Scoots later at least,
though unfortunately ignoring/dismissing RD’s pov about the matter.

Dashie : “Noooooo!!!”

The fact that she didn’t actually say anything about actually having parents despite literally setting it up to do so and deliberately using language that leaves it open to not having parents? Yeah, that’s like whenever they drop hints about AJ’s parents, or Scootaloo’s potential permanent inability to fly.
